How to Enter the Kruger National Park on Race day

Important Gate Entry Instructions for Skukuza Castle Lager ½ Marathon Weekend

31 July – 1 August 2026

Race Day 1 Aug 2026

Dear Runner

Take the time to read the entrance rules to avoid a delay at the gate

Take note that gate entry on race day will strictly follow SANParks rules and regulations. To ensure a smooth arrival, kindly follow the steps below.

Step 1 – Make Your Pre‑Booking and pay Conservation fees

https://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/what-to-do/day-visits

A pre‑booking is a reservation you make before arriving at a SANParks gate, especially during busy periods. It ensures the park knows you are coming and that there is space to allow you in. Think of it as your entry appointment — it does not replace your conservation fees or Wild Card, but it secures your spot.

Your Pre‑Booking Includes:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Vehicle registration details
  • The date you want to enter
  • The gate you plan to use (Recommended gate – Kruger Gate)
  • Number of people in your vehicle (note that all occupants in the vehicle need to pay for the pre booking and conservation fee)
  • Whether you have a Wild Card or will pay conservation fees you will need to make a pre booking.
    • If you have a Wild Card, you must submit it with your booking
    • If not, you must pay your conservation fees in full with your pre‑booking

Payments at the gate will delay your entry on race day.

Step 2 – Print Your Reservation (Zero Balance Required)

This includes:

  • Your pre‑booking confirmation
  • Your conservation fee entry confirmation

If you complete the reservation without paying, you will be required to pay at the gate before entering the Park.
Again: payments at the gate will delay your entry on race day.

Step 3 – Print and Complete the Indemnity Form

(Digital forms will not be accepted – please print)

Wild Card Holders

If you are entering with a Wild Card, please ensure it is valid before making your day booking/reservation.

No renewals will be done at the gate over marathon weekend.

Renew or purchase a Wild Card here:
https://www.sanparks.org/account/signin.php

Bring the following in hard copy (no electronic copies accepted):

  1. Completed indemnity form – signed by all occupants in the vehicle – This you will hand in at the gate
  2. Wild Card confirmation letter (if applicable)
  3. Copy of ID for all Wild Card holders (If applicable)
  4. Confirmation letter with zero balance for your conservation entry and day booking

Important Gate Procedure

Your confirmation letter must receive the correct sticker at the gate.
This sticker will serve as your exit permit.

Very Important

  • If you do not pre‑book your entry, you will be required to pay before entering the Park. No exceptions.
(Payments at the gate will delay your entry on race day.)
  • If your documents are not in order, you will not be allowed to enter and will need to visit the office to sort out your entrance permit.
Final Reminder

If you are entering the Park on race day, please remember to make your Pre‑Booking as a Day Visitor and pay your conservation fees in full for all occupants in the vehicle.

No payment = No entry
